3 Key Trends for the Business Analysis Industry in 2025

It’s 2025

Yes, and it is April. 3 months passed. As time flies, trends and industry evolve also.

Given everything that is going on, it is reasonable to question where the business analysis world will be in 2025. The number of technologies created to assist companies in gathering, processing, and analyzing data, manage processes has increased dramatically in recent years. Despite their undeniable value, these products tend to serve technologists more so than corporate executives.

Here’s what you can expect to see shaping the business analysis world this year.

#01 Rise of AI

Yes, I know you have heard of enough of this. But this is fact. AI is like second “dot-com buble”. Pay attention to it and but any tool pro plan. I personally use Claude, but you can try ChatGPT, Deepseek or Perplexity also. Maybe tools that combine all models as well. According to AI Trends 2025 report by Google Cloud, AI Agents and Multimodal AI will be trend going forward.

Last days AI Studio by Google is also getting popular. Give a try.

Write texts, generate images, try to use at work for summarising texts, info or search documents with AI. Just “play with it”.

In 2025 companies in EU and Azerbaijan starting to ask at least basic AI skills. It will be expanded and become new “normal” after 2-3 years with AI Agents. Then we will see companies asking spesific AI Agent skills like they ask now 1C, Excel or other tools.

#02 Data

When I started to build my career, the industry in Azerbaijan was adapting new data. Now 3-5 years passed and almsot everyone build data foundation and going more advance step by step. Now it is time to use that data for decision making. Combine:

  • Data
  • Instincts
  • Factors affecting
  • and more…

Everything matters here. Everything is data. So, be careful. Data is here to stay forever.

The same problems continue regardless of how advanced the tools are. Conflicting definitions of important KPIs, poor data quality that finds its way into both operational and analytical systems, and a persistent gap between technical implementations and business needs are all problems that businesses continue to face.

To optimize ability to extract, analyze and share data trends with others, business analysts must develop technical skills including:

  • Statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS, or STATA)
  • SQL databases and database querying languages
  • Programming skills such as Python and R
  • Survey/query software
  • Business intelligence and reporting software
  • Data mining
  • Data visualization
  • Database design

#03 Communication and Stakeholder Management

Stakeholder is the person who has interest in the project to succeed. But mostly they are problematic and manage stakeholder or many is hard. Try to manage them good. But in order to do this, use below steps:

  • Identify stakeholders
  • List them
  • Categorise them
  • Start to understand and to know them
  • Identify their needs and wants
  • Align them with project final goal

But if stakeholders are many or they do not have much info about the process? Then do following:

  • If stakeholder has no info about the process: educate
  • If you have many stakeholders and conflict: calm down and manage situation
  • Many stakeholders and many needs: analyse them and prioritise

Not easy, but try to find some cheetcodes.

Communition here is the key. As business analyst you communicate with stakeholders including management, clients, sponsor and so on.

Everyone has different communication style, preference, channel, frequency. Once you figure out this in the start of the project, the rest is easy.
